Fantastic!!!!
Reviewed by Richard, 2010-10-01 My Wife and I stayed at the Gran Castillo from 21st Sept to the 1st Oct 2010 on an AI basis. This is only the 2nd 5* AI holiday we have been on and I have to we didn't have any complaints. The rooms are very large and well presented and cleaned on a dily basis. The food is very good with a great choice although like all AI it can get a little boring after 10 days but that's nothing to do with the quality of the food. There wasn't many children on site due to the time of the month. The majority of the guests are Spanish which suggests good quality. The surroundings are fantastic and the entire hotel has a very relaxed feel about it. There are two main bars in the evening although service can be slow at times but hey who's in a rush right :). The pool bar opens at 10am and for those wishing only water of soft drinks there is a self serve section which is very useful. The staff are very friendly. The Dutch receptionist Ruth is very good and speaks very good english.
The beach in front of the hotel is covered mainly in bolders and small stones but is excellent for snorkling as there is a reef a short way out that you can stand on and explore. A short walk to the main town of playa blanca via the costal path that is a great walk. The rubicon marina is also very nice and relaxed and has some nice shops bars. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of life and a little luxury then I would really recommend the Dream Place Gran Castillo. We will be visiting again for sure.
